About the album The Dream Of The Blue Turtles

Sting's first solo album after the breakup of the Police is titled The Dream Of The Blue Turtles and was released in June 1985. The highly anticipated album initially surprises as Sting prefers to follow different musical paths from those he had followed or better yet guided with the Police.

Sting presents an album where pop/rock music is dominant, embellished with many clever jazz passages. Sting wants to prove his quality as a musician and composer, as all the songs are his own compositions. From the album emerged five singles, with If You Love Somebody Set Them Free and Russians standing out and defining the artist's entire subsequent career. As strange as it may sound, the album's title comes from a dream that Sting himself had at some point, and he wanted to name his first solo album in this way.

The Dream Of The Blue Turtles reached No. 3 in the United Kingdom and No. 2 in the United States. Its total sales have approached 5,000,000 worldwide, while 60,000 copies of the album were sold in the former Yugoslavia (!)
