First Attack by Spitfire
About the album First Attack
In 1986, the Greek band Spitfire attracted the interest of EMI Records. The company gave them 70 hours in the studio to prepare their first recording work. Thus, at the beginning of 1987, the legendary First Attack was released, their first studio album and one of the first heavy metal albums released in Greece.
The sound of Spitfire is greatly influenced by the NWOBHM, but the eight songs on the album undeniably carry the mark of the Greek musicians. The songs are compositions by guitarist Ilias Logginidis.
Unfortunately, bad luck struck the band as soon as the recordings of First Attack were completed. The singer Dinos Kostakis had a very serious accident with a motorcycle. The singer was never able to return, and the band found themselves searching for a new singer.
