About the album Magic Fly

Magic Fly by Space was released in April 1977 and is one of the most important milestones in electronic music, establishing the space disco genre. The record combines traditional disco with futuristic elements, heavily using synthesizers and electronic rhythms. Its style is described as Eurodisco and space disco, with melodies reminiscent of science fiction.

The recording of Magic Fly took place in 1976 at the Sidney Bechet Studios of the Vogue company in Villetaneuse, a suburb of Paris. The cover is characterized by the indication "Original version" in many editions and often depicts the group's futuristic logo. The appearances of the band with astronaut helmets became the trademark of their visual identity, enhancing the space theme of the album. The group members wore space suits to hide their identity from their previous record company (!) In 1983, the album was released in the Soviet Union (!) and achieved massive success. To make this happen, the last track titled Carry On, Turn Me On was removed for censorship reasons, and Just Blue was put in its place (!)

The album and the eponymous single sold over 12,000,000 copies worldwide. The single Magic Fly reached No.1 in 15 countries, including France, Switzerland, and West Germany, while in the United Kingdom, the single reached No.2 on the charts and the album No.11.
