Just Blue by Space
About the album Just Blue
Just Blue is the third studio album by the French electronic/space disco group Space, which was released in 1978 by the record label Vogue P.I.P. It is considered one of the most iconic albums of the space disco era, combining futuristic synthesizer sounds with dance rhythms. The album was released in December 1978 in France and in early 1979 in the USA.
The music of the album was composed by the group's founder Didier Marouani, while Jean-Philippe Iliesco participated in the production. The recording took place at The Sydney Bechet Studio in Paris. The album is renowned for the use of synthesizers that create a "space" atmosphere, while its original vinyl release also came in blue transparent vinyl, matching its title.
Just Blue helped Space establish themselves in markets outside Western Europe, achieving particular success in Russia (then the Soviet Union), where the band and its music gained legendary status. In 1983, Space was invited by the Soviet Ministry of Culture for a series of 21 concerts in Moscow, Leningrad (Saint Petersburg), and Kiev. In Moscow, the performances were held at the Olympic Stadium (Olimpiyskiy), attracting more than 600,000 spectators in total during their stay (!)
