The Stand! of 1969 was the fourth album by Sly And The Family Stone and it was the album that drew the interest of a large portion of funk and soul music fans towards them.
The record contains eight compositions by Sly Stone. Among them is Everyday People, Don't Call Me Nigger, Whitey, and the over thirteen-minute-long Sex Machine (!)
The album sold 500,000 copies in the U.S. in its release year and went gold, while impressively, it went platinum in 1986. This means it continued to sell satisfactorily for the following 17 years.
