Rudebox by Robbie Williams
About the album Rudebox
Robbie Williams, in order to record the seventh studio album of his career, makes a huge change in the way he worked on his previous albums. In 2006's Rudebox, he will collaborate with a large team of people in the composition and production of the seventeen songs included in the album with whom he had not worked in a studio before. Additionally, he covers songs of others.
Rudebox is a pop album with many dance music elements. Among those Robbie Williams collaborates with are the Pet Shop Boys on She's Madonna and We're The Pet Shop Boys, Mark Ronson producing four tracks - among them is Lovelight - and many tracks are produced by the music project Soul Mekanik. Another special moment is Bongo Bong And Je Ne t'aime Plus, which is Williams' take on Manu Chao's compositions, while we also hear Lily Allen on the vocals of this cover. Apart from the five singles that emerged from this, notable are The 80's and The 90's, which are autobiographical.
Rudebox managed to become the seventh consecutive album of Robbie Williams to reach No.1 on the UK charts. The album's success was significant in other European countries, while in the USA, it was as if it never existed. Its total worldwide sales are estimated at over 2,500,000 copies.
