Madonna's third studio album was the one that established her in the global scene. Madonna released True Blue in 1986, and thanks to its enormous success, it far surpassed the borders of the USA and made her the most famous pop star for at least the next ten years.

True Blue was Madonna's first album where she was a songwriter for all the songs, and she also had a say in the production of the record.

The 25,000,000 copies it sold are proof of the above. True Blue was the best-selling album of the 1980s for a female singer and, of course, the album that sold the most copies during 1986.
