Prince's ninth album was the double album Sign o' The Times, which was released in 1987. The album is one of Prince's most successful albums, with Prince himself also overseeing the production of the record.
The entire recording and orchestration of the songs is based on drum machine sounds and synthesizers. Beyond the song Sign o' The Times, which became a hit, there was also U Got the Look, a duet by Prince with Sheena Easton, which remained in the history of pop music.
The album reached No. 20 on the Billboard chart.
