About the album Purple Rain

Prince enters the studio in March 1983, and by May 1984 he records the sixth album of his career. In June 1984, Purple Rain is released and from that moment on, nothing will be the same for the tiny genius artist from Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Alongside him during the recordings is the band The Revolution, who truly highlight every note Prince writes, which is why the album is titled Prince And The Revolution. The songs on the album will provide the soundtrack for the Warner Bros. Records Inc. film of the same name, which will hit theaters at the same time.

The success of the album was immediate and upward as the months went by. Prince had managed to incorporate in one album all those black artists he had loved from the '60s and '70s. The excitement that stemmed from them and what they taught him are in perfect harmony within his own masterpiece. Purple Rain has sold 25,000,000 copies worldwide and there is no list of the greatest albums of all time where it is not found.
