About the album Time Tells No Lies
Time Tells No Lies from 1981 marks the iconic debut of the British band Praying Mantis and is considered one of the most important albums of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM). The sound of the album differs from the roughness of other NWOBHM bands, offering a more melodic sound with influences from hard rock and AOR.
The album includes nine tracks, highlighted by the epic Children Of The Earth, as well as the notable cover of All Day And All Of The Night by the Kinks. The first single from the album, Cheated, reached No. 69 on the UK charts. The band had recorded a cover of I Surrender, but was forced to withdraw it as Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow released their version simultaneously, making it a global success (!)
The Praying Mantis album reached No. 60 in the United Kingdom. Despite its success, legal issues with management led to the band's disbandment shortly thereafter, before their reunion in 1990.
