About the album Placebo
The 1996 album Placebo by the band Placebo was a very pleasant surprise for alternative rock fans in the mid-'90s. The three members of Placebo, although they were not originally from Britain, used London as their base to present their musical vision. This album was the only one where Swedish drummer Robert Schultzberg played, who left after clashing with the band's lead singer and main songwriter, Brian Molko.
The group's first single was Come Home, which was released several months before the album and had some success. Placebo thereby attracted the attention of the label Hut and began preparing their first album for two months in London and Dublin. The album was produced by American Brad Wood. The musical style of the album epitomized the alternative sound of that era with a small dose of punk aesthetics. The boy on the album cover is named David Fox, and in 2012 he wanted to sue the band, claiming that the publicity he received after the album's release led many to bully him.
Placebo is estimated to have reached 500,000 sales. It achieved great success not only in Britain but also in France.
