About the album Never Let Me Go
Never Let Me Go became the eighth official studio album by Placebo in 2022. The nine-year recording absence had led many of the band's fans to believe that the band no longer existed. The truth is that after Steve Forrest's departure from the drummer position in 2015, Placebo remained exactly as they started - two people, Brian Molko and Stefan Olsdal. This did not prevent them from recording Never Let Me Go as a duo.
For the drum recording needs on Never Let Me Go, two session drummers and a drum machine operated by Molko were used. The album was produced by Placebo themselves and Adam Noble. Although its sound retains its alternative rock character, one cannot help but notice a balanced shift towards electronic music.
The album became a pan-European success as it reached very high positions in most European countries. It reached No.1 in Germany, Austria, Belgium, Switzerland, and the Netherlands. In England, it stopped at No.3.
