About the album Covers

The 2010 album Covers is a collection of ten covers that Placebo had prepared for various reasons in previous years. It was initially released as a companion album to the special edition of Sleeping With Ghosts, which was released in 2003. Seven years later, in 2010, Covers made its appearance as a separate album.

The oldest song in the collection is Bigmouth Strikes Again by the Smiths, which was on the B-Side of Nancy Boy from 1997, and the most recent was The Ballad of Melody Nelson by Serge Gainsbourg, which appeared on the album Monsieur Gainsbourg Revisited, a tribute album to the French musician, actor, and director in 2006. The song used as a promotional single for Covers was the cover of Running Up That Hill by Kate Bush.

All the covered songs bear the distinctive mark of Placebo and this is something that makes the album, as a whole, interesting and worth mentioning and listening to.
