About the album Obscured By Clouds
The seventh album by the British band Pink Floyd is Obscured By Clouds, which actually served as the soundtrack for the French film by Barbet Schroeder "La Vallée," themed around love. The album was released in 1972 and was a work done in two phases as the group had already started working on their next official album.
Obscured By Clouds clearly does not resemble the group's early works that were overflowing with psychedelia. Here, it is evident that progressive rock has come to stay. The compositions are mainly by Waters and Gilmour, but the other two members have also contributed where needed. In retrospect, the musical style of Obscured By Clouds seems like a very good auditory preparation for what would follow in the next four albums. From another perspective, Obscured By Clouds was overshadowed by The Dark Side Of The Moon, which followed a few months later.
The album reached No.6 in the UK and No.46 in the USA. The album's production is once again by Pink Floyd.
