Oktubre by Patricio Rey y sus Redonditos de Ricota
About the album Oktubre
The band Patricio Rey y sus Redonditos de Ricota from Buenos Aires recorded their second album of their career titled Oktubre in August and September 1986.
The nine songs on the album are compositions by Indio Solari and Skay Beilinson. Musically, the album is in the post-punk genre. Songs like Fuegos de octubre, Canción Para Naufragios, or Preso en mi Ciudad create a dystopian-nightmarish atmosphere. The big hit of the album was the single Jijiji, which was also one of the band's greatest hits throughout its career until it disbanded in 2001. The iconic cover of the record is clearly influenced by the October Revolution in Russia in 1917. Its designer was Ricardo Rocambole Cohen.
Oktubre has sold 120,000 copies in Argentina and is considered among the best rock albums released in the South American country. Oktubre is a milestone album for Argentine rock. Patricio Rey y sus Redonditos de Ricota could never surpass this specific album in terms of quality.
