About the album Pain In My Heart

During 1962 and 1963, Otis Redding released four songs in single format and achieved success. These songs are These Arms Of Mine, That's What My Heart Needs, Security, and Pain In My Heart. The title of the last one would be used as the title of Redding's first album, which would be released in March 1964.

The album is a sample of soul music that includes the four aforementioned songs and eight more. Here one can hear Otis Redding's version of songs like Stand By Me, Lucille, or Louie Louie. The producer of the album was the producer and co-founder of Stax Records, Jim Stewart. Present at the studio recordings of the songs were members of Booker T. & the M.G.'s, whose contribution was very significant.

Pain In My Heart may have barely reached No. 103 on Billboard, but on the other hand, it was an early example of how exceptional a performer the only 22-year-old Otis Redding was.
