About the album War & Peace
After three albums that go almost unnoticed, Edwin Starr releases his fourth album in 1970 and tastes success with War & Peace, as the Vietnam War rages and troubles American public opinion.
War & Peace is an unstoppable funk/soul dynamite of unique quality, sweeping everything in its path.
The single "War" reached No. 1 in the U.S. and No. 3 in the UK, placing Starr in the pantheon of black artists. Years later, Bruce Springsteen would present his own live rendition of the song in Live/1975–85.
