About the album One From The Modern
In the late 1990s, Ocean Colour Scene marked nearly a decade of presence in the British alternative and indie rock scene. One From The Modern, released in 1999, becomes the fourth studio album of their career.
The album begins with Profit In Peace, a protest song against the suffering brought by war, which was also the first single from the album. In No-one At All, the backing vocals feature the voice of Paul Weller, to whom another composition on the album, Soul Driver, is dedicated. Lastly, another contribution comes from Brian Travers of UB40 on the song Emily Chambers.
One From The Modern received several negative reviews, but the public seemed to react differently, as in the United Kingdom it reached No. 4 and its sales earned it a gold certification.
