About the album Moseley Shoals

In 1996, Ocean Colour Scene from Birmingham released the second album of their career titled Moseley Shoals. The word "Moseley" is the name of a suburb in southern Birmingham. The release of the album coincided with the explosion of britpop and soon the album was recognized as one of the notable albums of this particular music movement.

The twelve compositions of the album were the result of the songwriting efforts of all the members of the band, while the production was handled by Brendan Lynch. From Moseley Shoals, the opening track of the album titled The Riverboat Song definitely stood out, which was also the first single. Very soon, three more successful singles followed.

The album is considered one of the best and most characteristic albums of the British pop & rock scene for the 1990s. It reached No. 2 on the UK charts, and its sales there made it three times platinum. The album's total worldwide sales have exceeded 1,200,000 copies.
