Reflections by New York Rock & Roll Ensemble
About the album Reflections
The Greek composer Manos Hadjidakis has been living in New York since 1966. One of the works he composed there in 1968 was Reflections, an album influenced by the rock scene of the American metropolis. Reflections was released on record in 1970 with the help of the group New York Rock & Roll Ensemble.
His musical style belongs to rock music, but the psychedelic elements, baroque rock, and elements of Greek music are prominent. The lyrics of the songs are in English. The composer's intention was to express, to reflect what he saw happening around him, stemming from the American youth of New York during those turbulent times.
Reflections is a unique musical work both for rock music, but primarily for the Greek discography, as something similar had never been created before. In 1993, it was released again with Greek lyrics written by the Greek poet Nikos Gatsos.
