About the album Rust Never Sleeps

1979 is the year in which Canadian rocker Neil Young presents to his ever-growing fans the tenth studio album titled Rust Never Sleeps. The album was recorded with the assistance of Crazy Horse, an American rock band. It was the third time he recorded an album with them.

In Rust Never Sleeps, two different musical worlds unfold. The first side consists of five acoustic compositions, while the second features four songs on the edge of hard rock. Because of this second side, the album was retrospectively labeled a pro-grunge record(!) Both Nirvana and Pearl Jam have stated that this second side of Rust Never Sleeps was an inspiration for them. This contradiction is vividly captured in the unique single of the album, which on one side contains the acoustic My My, Hey Hey (Out Of The Blue), while the other side has the highly electric Hey Hey, My My (Into The Black), which is essentially the same song with different orchestration and execution.

Rust Never Sleeps is rightfully among the best albums of Neil Young's extensive discography. Upon its release, it reached No. 8 on the Billboard charts. The album's sales have exceeded 1,000,000 worldwide.
