Misplaced Childhood by Marillion
About the album Misplaced Childhood
Marillion achieved great success in the mid-'80s with Misplaced Childhood, thanks to the success of the single Kayleigh.
The entire album is based on the childhood of the singer Fish, which is why all the lyrics belong to him. The singer has admitted that the whole album is the result of a 10-hour session during which he was under the influence of LSD. The cover, designed by Mark Wilkinson, depicts a child dressed in an English soldier's uniform. In the background, there are symbolic elements, such as a magpie stealing a wedding ring, referring to loss and betrayal.
The album reached No.1 in Britain and stayed on the charts for 41 weeks. Marillion toured throughout this period to promote it.
