About the album Nightingales & Bombers
The sixth attempt by Manfred Mann’s Earth Band resulted in Nightingales & Bombers, a highly psychedelic album, which was made long after the era of psychedelia. On the other hand, psychedelia has been infused with progressive rock.
The one and only single from the album was Spirits In The Night, a composition by Bruce Springsteen.
The title of the album comes from a BBC recording on 19/05/42 by a technician who wanted to record nightingales, but ended up accidentally recording RAF bombers as they were going to bomb German targets in Germany (!)
