Ray Of Light was a massive shift in Madonna's career up until that point. Electronica, ambient, trip-hop, new-age, house, drum and bass elements - all mixed together - created the most complete work the “queen of pop” had given. The great success of the album was its first single titled Frozen.

The reasons that led to this musical shift were the vocal lessons she took for her role in Evita, the birth of her daughter, and her involvement with Kabbalah.

The album's sales reached 16,000,000 worldwide, and surely many who were critical of her previous work began to approach her with less prejudice.
