Madonna by Madonna
About the album Madonna
The debut album of Madonna Louise Ciccone or simply Madonna was released on July 27, 1983, and it should have gone unnoticed, but history was written differently as it turned out that the 25-year-old Madonna would quickly evolve into the most commercially successful pop artist of the second half of the 20th century.
The Madonna album contained eight synth-pop and dance-pop songs. Five of them were released as singles. The first was Everybody and the last was Borderline. Here, there is also Holiday, as well as Lucky Star, which was intended to give the album its title, but at the last moment, the artist decided to title it with her own name. Through these singles and their music videos that were incessantly aired by MTV at that time, Madonna managed to market her persona as something new and fresh in pop culture.
Madonna had alongside her in her first recording effort Reggie Lucas, John Benitez, and Mark Kamins, who shaped the sound of the album as producers and made it reach No.8 in the U.S., No.6 in the United Kingdom, and No.10 in Australia. The album has recorded over 10,000,000 sales worldwide.
