Rio by Duran Duran
About the album Rio
Duran Duran with Rio are beginning to take off to become what they became a few years later. It is an album of transition and maturation. The effort of a group of twenty-somethings to be taken seriously by the world is clearly evident.
Rio was Duran Duran's second studio album and it certainly has its flaws, but no one can deny that it's one of the most interesting albums of their career and certainly one of the most interesting pop albums of the '80s, an album in which experimentation is not lacking, as well as the secret to success.
The success for Rio came on both sides of the Atlantic, as well as in the rest of Europe. In the U.S., over the years, it has managed to sell 2,000,000 copies.
