About the album Mad Not Mad

In 1985, the year when Madness released their sixth studio album titled Mad Not Mad, many things had changed in the sound that dominated British pop music. The band tries to adapt to the new musical reality by releasing their sixth album titled Mad Not Mad. In fact, Madness record and offer their audience a pop album.

The songs on the album were all compositions by the band except for the song "The Sweetest Girl," which was a cover of a song by Scritti Politti, and which was released as the third single from the album. Although all three singles from the album made it to the Top-40 in Great Britain, none managed to enter the Top-10.

After Mad Not Mad, Madness seemed unable to follow the new musical reality and suspended their activities.
