About the album Significant Other

Significant Other was the second album by Limp Bizkit and it was released in 1999. With Significant Other, the band perfected the formula that turned nu-metal into a global phenomenon. Under the guidance of the legendary producer Terry Date and Brendan O’Brien, the sound became more voluminous, clear, and radio-friendly, without losing its aggressiveness.

The technique of the album is based on explosive contrast: Wes Borland's heavy, sharp riffs are married with DJ Lethal's hip-hop beats. The participation of Jonathan Davis (Korn) in Nobody Like You and Method Man in N 2 Gether Now underscored the bridge the group built between the metal and rap scenes. The iconic cover, with its graffiti aesthetic and red figure, captured the "urban" identity of the album, transforming Durst's red cap into a symbol of an entire era.

In 1999, Limp Bizkit "tore down" the charts with Significant Other, which soared to No.1 on the Billboard 200, selling 644,000 copies in just the first week. With over 16,000,000 sales worldwide and 7x platinum status in the U.S., the album swept everything in its path. From Canada to Australia, the nu-metal mania dominated, turning the band into an absolute commercial phenomenon of the era.
