Follow The Leader by Korn
About the album Follow The Leader
The American band Korn spent the period from March to May 1998 at NRG Recording Studios in California, where they recorded their third studio album titled Follow The Leader. The album became one of the very important nu metal releases for the second half of the 1990s and established Korn as one of the biggest names in the genre.
What was striking is that Korn in Follow The Leader clearly incorporated rap into their compositions. Three songs from the album feature active vocal contributions from rappers Ice Cube, Fred Durst, and Slimkid3. The album contains 25 songs plus a hidden one – Earache My Eye, which closes the album – and three of them were proposed as singles: All In The Family, Got The Life, and Freak On A Leash. In reality, however, the songs are 14, as the first twelve tracks are twelve 5-second long pieces of silence each (!)
Follow The Leader reached No.1 in the U.S., Canada, New Zealand, and Australia. It is the most commercially successful album in the band's entire career. Korn sold 268,000 copies of their album in the U.S. during the first week of its release, while the final tally in their home country is close to 5,000,000 copies.
