About the album Running In The Family
Running In The Family is the seventh studio album by the British band Level 42, released in March 1987 and marked the biggest commercial success of their career.
The album signaled the definitive departure of the band from their jazz-funk and fusion roots towards a more radio-friendly synth-pop and sophisti-pop style. The songs touch on themes such as family memories and fate (Running in the Family), difficult relationships (Lessons in Love), and loneliness. The recording and mixing were primarily done in 1986 at Sarm West Studios and Maison Rouge in London. The production was handled by Level 42 themselves along with Wally Badarou (the "unofficial" fifth member).
The album has sold over 1,200,000 copies worldwide (!). It achieved enormous success, reaching the Top 10 in many countries like Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, and Switzerland. In the United Kingdom, it was certified 2 times platinum, with sales exceeding 600,000 copies in the country.
