Ten New Songs by Leonard Cohen
About the album Ten New Songs
After the success of the album The Future in 1992, the Canadian songwriter withdrew from public view for many years. It was as if he disappeared from the face of the earth. Thus, his return to recording in 2001 with Ten New Songs was a surprise for the fans of his work. Leonard Cohen collaborated with Sharon Robinson to compose, perform, and produce these ten new songs that would make up Cohen's tenth studio album. This is why the American songwriter also appears on the album cover.
The album Ten New Songs - in hindsight - seems to inaugurate a new era for the songwriter Leonard Cohen. The album consists of ten songs that balance between contemporary folk and soft rock. Some are new and some had been waiting for years, such as In My Secret Life, which Cohen had been working on since 1988 and which became a very big hit as a single in Poland, where the album went platinum selling over 100,000 copies (!)
In general, what happened with the overwhelming majority of Leonard Cohen's albums occurred: the U.S. ignored it (No.143 on the Billboard) and success came in European countries.
