About the album Ashes Of The Wake
The heavy metal band Lamb Of God from Virginia, ten years after their inception, released their fourth studio album in 2004 titled Ashes Of The Wake. The record is one of the best examples of groove metal of all time.
At the time of the release of Ashes Of The Wake, the U.S. was involved in the second war in Iraq and things had started not to turn out as they would have liked. The first dead American soldiers had begun to arrive in coffins. Lamb Of God depict through the lyrics of their songs here the horror and hypocrisy hidden within the war.
The album, as soon as it was released, reached No. 27 on the Billboard charts and has sold 500,000 copies to date. In Britain, it went up to No. 126.
