About the album El Viaje de Copperpot

The second album of the band La Oreja de Van Gogh from San Sebastián, Spain, succeeds in bringing this youthful band to the top of the Latino pop/rock music scene. El Viaje de Copperpot was released in September 2000 and very soon catapulted the Basque career to great heights both in Spain and Mexico. The word "Copperpot" in the album's title comes from the hero of the 1985 movie, "The Goonies" (!)

Out of the twelve songs, eight were released as singles (!) The songs Cuidate, La Playa, Paris, Pop stood out, compositions mainly by the singer Amaia Montero and the band's keyboardist Xabi San Martín. The album was produced by Englishman Nigel Walker.

El Viaje de Copperpot, with over 1,500,000 sales, is among the most commercially successful albums released in Spain. About half of the copies have been sold in Mexico, where the band has enjoyed great acceptance for many years.
