About the album Kristofferson

After several professional changes, Kris Kristofferson manages in 1970 to record and release his first album titled Kristofferson. Johnny Cash's contribution to Kris Kristofferson reaching this result was particularly significant as Cash believed in his talent and compositions and tried in every way to promote them.

Initially, the album did not achieve much. The success of the album came the following year when Janis Joplin, in her own album Pearl, had successfully performed Kristofferson's composition, Me and Bobby McGee, which Kristofferson had composed together with his album's producer, the legendary Fred Foster. As a result, in 1971 the album reached No. 43 on the Billboard Top-200 and No. 10 on the country chart.

Kristofferson's debut in the country music scene has taken on legendary dimensions. Due to its sales in the U.S., it went gold, thus opening the door to the music industry for the Texas singer-songwriter.
