About the album Ram It Down
The eleventh album by Judas Priest will be released in 1988 and will receive very strict criticism for the "digital" sound that characterized many of the songs it contained. In fact, the album was created from the remnants of Turbo Lover from 1986. Songs like Ram it Down, Hard As Iron, Love You To Death, and Monsters Of Rock were ready to be included in a double album that Judas Priest "dreamed" of in 1986, and their record label cut it down.
Ram It Down would become the last album with which they would collaborate with producer Tom Allom. This was a targeted change. Judas Priest were accused by their fans, as well as by critics, for the excessive use of the drum machine. It was no coincidence that the band's longtime drummer, Dave Holland, left the band after this album. These two changes led Judas Priest to return to a heavier sound in their next work.
The album managed to reach No. 24 in the United Kingdom and No. 31 in the United States. Its global sales have exceeded 500,000.
