About the album Defenders Οf Τhe Faith
Judas Priest have gained momentum and it seems that nothing can stop them. The ninth studio album titled Defenders Of The Faith comes in 1984 to add yet another triumph to the already successful catalog of albums of the pioneers of the heavy metal sound. This particular album is one of the most complete and flawless heavy metal albums of the 1980s. Songs like Rock Hard Ride Free or Some Heads Are Gonna Roll leave no doubt as to who leads the British heavy metal sound.
In Defenders Of The Faith, Rob Halford and his voice are at their peak. Kenneth Downing Jr. and Glenn Tipton pour their soul into the guitars, while Ian Hill and Dave Holland on bass and drums respectively come to bind the entire effort with their playing. On the cover, Judas Priest fans were confronted with the Metallian, a figure created by Doug Johnson.
Defenders Of The Faith reached No.19 in the United Kingdom and No.18 in the United States, where it went platinum selling 1,000,000 copies there.
