Ladies Of The Canyon by Joni Mitchell
About the album Ladies Of The Canyon
Joni Mitchell lived from 1969 to 1974 in a house in Laurel Canyon, an area in Los Angeles. Her stay there inspired her to write the song "Ladies Of The Canyon," which also became the title of her third album that was released in 1970.
This album is one of the most complete works of the Canadian singer-songwriter, in which she unfolds her musical talent and her love for folk music. However, in "Ladies Of The Canyon," Mitchell gives the first indications of the musical turn she would take in the following albums, where the sound and lyrics of her compositions would move into more sophisticated paths. The standout songs from the album are "Woodstock" and "Big Yellow Taxi."
Apart from its artistic perfection, "Ladies Of The Canyon" has also been a very great commercial success for Joni Mitchell, with the album's sales reaching 1,100,000 copies.
