About the album Blue
In 1971, American singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell proceeded with the recording and release of Blue, which would become her fourth studio album. Blue is a pure folk album, which is considered among the best of its genre.
Some of the songs on Blue were written by Joni Mitchell while she was on vacation in Matala on the island of Crete. Others are influenced by her relationship with Graham Nash, which had just ended. Another reason for composing some other songs on the album was her intense relationship with James Taylor, which had just begun. In short, the songs on Blue are highly autobiographical.
Blue is one of Joni Mitchell's most commercially successful albums in terms of numbers. In the U.S., it sold 1,000,000 copies and in the United Kingdom another 600,000.
