About the album American IV: The Man Comes Around
American IV: The Man Comes Around is an album where, in one way or another, Sting, the Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel, Fiona Apple, Roberta Flack, Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails, Nick Cave, Don Henley with the Eagles, Glen Campbell, and Marty Robbins meet. And all of them are welcomed by Johnny Cash with his voice, either singing with them in the studio or performing their compositions or songs.
This all happens on the last studio album Johnny Cash recorded in 2002 and managed to see released a year before he died. The two singles from the album were Nine Inch Nails' "Hurt" and Depeche Mode's "Personal Jesus." His performance on both is more than stunning, taking them to another dimension despite the fact that from their initial execution, they were already soaring.
The production of American IV: The Man Comes Around was by Johnny Cash's son, John Carter Cash, and of course, Rick Rubin. The album's sales have exceeded 2,500,000 worldwide.
