Grasshopper is the seventh studio album by JJ Cale. It was released in 1982 and marks the beginning of the artist's collaboration with Mercury Records for the United States market.
In Grasshopper, JJ Cale changes his musical style to some extent and moves towards a genre known as Americana. The album was recorded in various studios in the state of Tennessee. All the compositions on the album are by JJ Cale, while two songs also feature contributions in composition from his then-wife Christine Lakeland. The album's production includes JJ Cale and Audie Ashworth.
The first two songs on the album, "City Girls" and "Devil In Disguise," became the singles of Grasshopper.
