Chicos Pálidos Para La Máquina by Ilegales
About the album Chicos Pálidos Para La Máquina
Chicos Pálidos para la Máquina is the fourth studio album by the Spanish band Ilegales, a dive into the raw realism and urban nihilism that characterized Madrid in the 1980s. Under the guidance of the unruly Jorge Martínez, the album balances between punk attitude, rock 'n' roll, and blues, capturing the decay and energy of a generation "thirsting for danger." The album was released in 1988.
The record was recorded at Estudios Eurosonic in Madrid, produced by Jorge Martínez himself on behalf of Hispavox. Its sonic identity is clear but aggressive, reflecting the atmosphere of the time. Among the 12 tracks on the album, those that became anthems of Spanish-language rock stand out: songs like Chicos Pálidos Para La Máquina, an ode to the "pale young men" and the culture of drugs and nightlife, Ángel Exterminador, one of the band's most iconic and dark songs, and Lavadora Blues, a distinctive blues moment that showcases Martínez's musical flexibility.
This album was not just a release, but a statement of survival in an industry that Martínez often described as a "machine" that swallows talents.
