Kinky by Hoodoo Gurus
About the album Kinky
Kinky is the fifth studio album by the band Hoodoo Gurus from Sydney. The album was released in 1991, ten years after the formation of this purebred rock band. Kinky is among the best albums in the Hoodoo Gurus' career.
Most of the compositions belong to Dave Faulkner, who is the band's singer and guitarist, while significant help in the composition of the songs also came from the other guitarist at that time, Brad Shepherd. Kinky consists of eleven songs whose sound moves between rock, garage rock, and college rock.
The Hoodoo Gurus—at least in Australia—managed to taste success. Kinky reached No. 13 in Australia, sold 70,000 copies, went platinum in their homeland, and was also a success in New Zealand. The Hoodoo Gurus reached No. 172 on the Billboard. Thus, Kinky would be the last album of the Australian band to enter the Top-200 in the United States.
