About the album El Espíritu del Vino

After the success and exhaustive promotional tour of their second album, Héroes del Silencio will enter the studio from January to March 1993 under the guidance in production by Phil Manzanera of Roxy Music, as was the case with their previous record, aiming to replicate the successful outcome of Senderos de Traición.

The result will be the release of a double album with sixteen songs titled El Espíritu del Vino. The inspiration for the album's title comes either from the continuous drunkenness in which the band members found themselves or from the title of the poem "El alma del vino" by the French poet Charles Baudelaire or from a combination of both. In this album, Héroes del Silencio adopt a more rock style in their music that reaches up to hard rock. Generally, the album reflects the excess into which the group members had fallen during that period due to their unexpected success.

The hits of the album were Nuestros Nombres and La Sirena Varada, while there were also three more singles. El Espíritu del Vino quickly went gold in Spain, while it reached No.1 in Germany, Switzerland, and Mexico. The album's sales are estimated at over 125,000 worldwide.
