About the album Two Steps From The Move

In March 1984, the Finnish band Hanoi Rocks were in New York recording the fifth and final album of their first period, Two Steps From The Move. The album has a typical glam metal musical style. However, as with every album by the Finns, Two Steps From The Move managed to stand out as its compositions take a step further with its "punky" aesthetic, while Michael Monroe's saxophone adds another dimension to the compositions.

The album starts with Up Around The Bend, which is the first single from the album and a cover of a song by Creedence Clearwater Revival (!) from 1970. Other standout songs, whether as singles or because they were loved by the band's fans, include: Underwater World, Boulevard Of Broken Dreams, Million Miles Away, and Don't You Ever Leave Me. Significant is the contribution of Bob Ezrin as the producer of Two Steps From The Move, as well as a co-composer of many of the album's songs. The other main composer of the album is guitarist Andy McCoy.

Two Steps From The Move marked Hanoi Rocks indelibly as the band's drummer Razzle was killed in a car accident in California. Hanoi Rocks were taking a break from their American tour and the band members were "partying" with those of Motley Crue. Vince Neil and Razzle, drunk, went in Vince Neil's car to buy beers when disaster struck as Neil lost control and crashed into an oncoming vehicle. Razzle's end was instantaneous. After that, the band broke up.
