About the album E Pluribus Funk
Grand Funk Railroad from Michigan, USA, formed in 1969 and by 1971 with the release of E Pluribus Funk, they had reached their fifth album. The title is a pun on the Latin motto used by the American state E pluribus unum, which means "from many, one". Grand Funk Railroad turned it into "from many, Funk". The musical style ranges from psychedelic rock to the American hard rock of the early '70s.
All compositions (lyrics and music) belong to the guitarist and founder of the band Mark Farner, who also plays the keyboards, the organ, and of course sings. The first single from the album was the song People, Let's Stop The War. We are in 1971 in the USA and the Vietnam War is at its peak without - of course - the end appearing near.
E Pluribus Funk - which was besides their second album within 1971 for the band - managed to reach No.5 in the USA and went on to become platinum.
