The release of Making Mirrors in 2011, and through the massive success of his single Somebody That I Used To Know, turned the spotlight on the Australian Gotye. Making Mirrors was his third studio album.
The album was recorded in various studios in Australia and it took about two years to complete since the first recordings were made in 2008. The compositions of Making Mirrors are a mix of art pop, art rock, and ultimately indie rock moments. The album released six singles. All the compositions of the album are by Wouter André De Backer, also known as Gotye.
Gotye's third album managed to be a frontrunner in its release year. Its total sales exceeded 2,600,000 copies worldwide.
