About the album Gravel & Wine
In the Fall of 2011, Gin Wigmore released her second studio album. Its title is Gravel & Wine. The singer-songwriter from New Zealand seems to be doing just as well as with her debut. She is helped by her distinct, characteristic, and charismatic voice that perfectly matches the songs she performs.
The musical style of the songs is not much different from what she had presented on her first album. However, the songs on Gravel & Wine appear to delve into the world of alternative and blues rock, while what remains the same as in the first album is the atmosphere of dark cabaret. From the album, Black Sheep and Man Like That were promoted as singles, although there are at least five to six other songs that could also play the same role. The two aforementioned songs and If Only were heard in some episodes of television series.
The album's producer was American Butch Walker, who also sings in Sweet Hell. Gravel & Wine reached No. 1 in New Zealand and topped the country's charts the following year. The album's official release in the U.S.A took place in 2013, where it reached No. 87 on the Billboard.
