About the album Breezin'

Breezin' from 1976 becomes the landmark album for musician and performer George Benson, an album that will lead him to No.1 on the Billboard. Breezin' - the artist's fifteenth album - is the record that would make Benson and his talent known in the U.S. and the rest of the world. Suffice it to say that his previous discographic work had stopped at the 100th position on the Billboard. Certainly, this huge change in Benson's career was also influenced by the fact that he was signed to Warner Records Inc., which could promote the album more effectively.

The album consists of only six compositions. Two of them are by George Benson, while Breezin' is a composition by Bobby Womack and This Masquerade is a composition by Leon Russell. These two tracks were the singles from the album. The performance of José Feliciano's Affirmation, which was released the previous year, is also outstanding. Tommy LiPuma produced the album.

Breezin' was not well received by critics as George Benson seemed to be leaving his pure jazz path and turning to a more "easy" sound, that of smooth jazz. However, this did not prevent 3,000,000 Americans from adding George Benson's album to their collection.
