Mimosa by Fun Lovin’ Criminals
About the album Mimosa
The album Mimosa by Fun Lovin' Criminals from 1999 is a special collection that combines covers, rare recordings, and lounge versions of their earlier hits. Mimosa was released in December 1999 through Chrysalis/EMI. It was an effort by the band to experiment with more relaxed, jazz, and swing sounds (apart from the fast Bombin' the L).
The album was not recorded in one go, but its material consisted of the period between April 1995 and September 1999. The Mimosa record was mainly recorded in New York (Sorcerer Sound, Sear Sound, Steve Rosenthal's Magic Shop, Baby Monster Studios) and at Walter Becker's Hyperbolic Sound in Maui, Hawaii.
Although Mimosa was considered one of their weaker commercial releases at the time, it reached No. 37 on the UK Albums Chart and No. 25 in New Zealand. It has sold over 100,000 copies worldwide.
