About the album You Can't Do That On Stage Anymore, Vol. 1
You Can't Do That On Stage Anymore, Vol. 1 is the first part of a monumental series of six double CDs released by Frank Zappa in May 1988. It includes live recordings spanning his entire career, from 1969 to 1984. Unlike other live albums, the series does not follow a chronological order. Zappa selected the tracks based on the quality of the performance or their historical significance, combining different bands and eras on the same CD.
Significant tracks: The first official release of the complete suite Don't Eat the Yellow Snow, including the Rollo section, The Florida Airport Tape, and an archival recording of the Mothers of Invention from 1970. There are performances with renowned musicians like Lowell George, Steve Vai, Adrian Belew, and Terry Bozzio.
Zappa personally curated the digital editing, emphasizing that no overdubs (additional studio recordings) were made, maintaining the authenticity of the live performance.
